- BlixSam Style Butternut & Ginger SoupCreamy roasted butternut, warming ginger and comforting spice layered together into a silky winter soup, made the BlixSam way 😄Serves a family of 4Ingredients2 tbsp butter1 tbsp oil1 onion, chopped1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated1 garlic clove, crushed1 medium butternut, peeled and cubed1 carrot, chopped1 potato, cubed1 litre chicken or vegetable stock½ cup fresh creamSalt to tasteBlack pepper to tasteBlixSam Flavour Layer1 tbsp BlixSam Borrie Pot½ tsp BlixSam Arm MaatSmall pinch of BlixSam Mirchi Fire (optional for warmth)Method – Layered the BlixSam WayStep 1. Build the Flavour FoundationHeat the butter and oil in a large pot over medium heat.Add the onion and cook until soft and lightly golden.Add the fresh ginger and garlic and cook gently for 1 minute until fragrant.Step 2. Bloom the FlavourAdd the BlixSam Borrie Pot, Arm Maat and optional Mirchi Fire directly into the buttery onion base.Let the spices bloom slowly for 2 minutes while stirring.This builds the deep warming flavour into the soup from the very beginning.Step 3. Build the SoupAdd the butternut, carrot and potato.Pour in the stock and stir well.Bring to a gentle simmer.Cover partially and cook for 30–40 minutes until the vegetables become soft and tender.Step 4. Blend the ComfortBlend the soup until silky smooth using a stick blender.Stir through the fresh cream.Taste and season with salt and black pepper.If needed, add a little extra stock for your preferred consistency.Step 5. Serve the BlixSam WayServe steaming hot with toasted bread or buttered sourdough.Finish with a swirl of cream and a light sprinkle of BlixSam Borrie Pot for beautiful colour and warmth.Small Tip.
