Smoky Jalapeño Poppers

Prep Time: 20 min
Cook Time: 25 min
Total Time: 45 min
Serves: 6–8

Ingredients

  • 12 fresh jalapeños
  • 150 g cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated mozzarella cheese
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp spring onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp BlixSam's Smoke Craft Spice
  • 1/4 tsp BlixSam's Garlic Melt (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 12 thin rashers bacon (or streaky bacon sliced in half)
  • Toothpicks

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C and line a baking tray with foil or place a wire rack over it.
  2. Slice the jalapeños in half lengthways and remove the seeds and membranes for a milder heat (leave some in if you prefer them hotter).
  3. In a bowl, combine the cream cheese, cheddar, mozzarella, garlic, spring onion, Smoke Craft, Garlic Melt, salt and black pepper until smooth.
  4. Spoon or pipe the cheese mixture into each jalapeño half.
  5. Wrap each stuffed jalapeño with half a rasher of bacon and secure with a toothpick.
  6. Arrange on the prepared tray and bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and the cheese is golden and bubbling.
  7. Garnish with chopped parsley or spring onion and serve warm.

BlixSam Tip

For extra smoky depth, sprinkle a little extra BlixSam Smoke Craft over the poppers before baking, or finish with a light drizzle of hot honey.
